The 1953–54 Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball team represented Penn State during the 1953–54 season. An independent team, they finished 18–6 and were ranked No. 9 in the AP poll. Led by fifth-year head coach Elmer Gross and captain Jack Sherry, they played their home games at Rec Hall. The team reached the 1954 NCAA Tournament Final Four, the only Final Four in school history. They upset No. 8 LSU and ended Notre Dame's 18-game winning streak to advance to Kansas City, where they finished third after losing to the eventual champion La Salle.
