Patti Russell was an Australian soprano who sang in grand opera and Gilbert and Sullivan productions from 1919 to 1928. Born in Sydney to Scottish parents, she studied at the State Conservatorium of Music with a government scholarship and then performed at a NSW State Orchestra concert, singing Schubert’s The Shepherd on the Rock.

In 1918 she joined Frank Rigo’s Grand Opera Company (which J. C. Williamson took over in 1919) and received praise for Nedda in Pagliacci and Marguerita in Faust. She gained wide attention when she replaced Amy Castles as Mimi in La bohème at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Sydney, on 29 September 1919, with no rehearsal. She also stood in for Strella Wilson as Elsie Maynard in The Yeomen of the Guard. Other favorite roles included Antonia in The Tales of Hoffmann, Phyllis in Iolanthe, Lili in Lilac Time, Mad Margaret in Ruddigore, and Yum Yum in The Mikado, perhaps her last role in Australia.

Afterwards she did not appear much in advertisements or reviews, and there was no farewell performance. A. L. Kelly criticized her at times, saying she showed uneven work, though she did well as Phyllis in Iolanthe. In January 1936 it was reported she had been seen in England.
