11 Puppis
11 Puppis is a single star in the southern constellation Puppis, about 520 light-years from Earth. It’s visible to the naked eye as a faint yellow-white star with magnitude 4.20. The star is moving away from us at about 13.3 km/s.
This is an evolved bright giant, with a spectral type of F7/8 II. Its light shows less carbon and more nitrogen than normal, along with unusually high lithium. This unusual mix suggests the star has recently produced lithium after deep interior mixing.
11 Puppis has about 2.7 times the Sun’s mass and shines with roughly 515 times the Sun’s luminosity. Its surface temperature is about 5,868 K, giving it its yellow-white color.
