1930 Indian general election
In September 1930, general elections were held in British India. A total of 104 seats were contested, and 53 seats were needed for a majority.
Main parties and seats:
- National Party, led by Hari Singh Gour: 40 seats
- Independent candidates, led by Abdur Rahim: 30 seats
The Indian National Congress boycotted the election, and public interest was low. The newly elected Central Legislative Assembly met for the first time on 14 January 1931.
