John Bosco Secondary School was a Catholic, co-educational secondary school in the Oatlands area of Glasgow, Scotland. Named after Saint John Bosco, it was located on Wolseley Street near Richmond Park. The building was designed by architect John Morton Cochrane of Honeyman, Jack & Robertson Architectural Practice and incorporated the former St. Bonaventure's Junior Secondary School. The school opened on 12 November 1974 and was officially opened by Archbishop Thomas Winning. It served south-eastern Glasgow, including Oatlands, the Gorbals, Hutchesontown, Govanhill and Toryglen. Over the years, pupil numbers fell from about 1,000 to around 300 by 1996. In 1994 the school tried to become independent from local authority control, but this was opposed by Ian Lang, the Secretary of State for Scotland. John Bosco Secondary School closed in 1997, and its areas joined Holyrood Secondary School in Crosshill.
