1460 Haltia is a small, stony asteroid in the central part of the asteroid belt, about 8 kilometers across. It was discovered on 24 November 1937 by Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä at Iso-Heikkilä Observatory in Turku, Finland. The name honors Haltia (Halti), Finland’s highest peak on the border with Norway.

Key facts
- Type and orbit: a background (non-family) asteroid in the main belt. Orbits the Sun every about 4.05 years (1,481 days) at a distance of roughly 2.1–3.0 AU, with an eccentricity of ~0.19 and an inclination of about 6.7°.
- Size and reflectivity: diameter about 6.6–8.4 km; albedo roughly 0.19–0.36; likely a stony (S-type) asteroid. Absolute magnitude around 12.6–13.1.
- Spin: rotation period about 3.59 hours, with a modest brightness variation.
- Observations: the observation arc covers about 79.6 years. Size estimates come from infrared surveys and standard albedo assumptions.
