1979 Montana Grizzlies football team
The 1979 Montana Grizzlies football team represented the University of Montana in the Big Sky Conference during the 1979 NCAA Division I‑AA season. In head coach Gene Carlson’s fourth year, the Grizzlies finished with a 3–7 record (2–5 in the Big Sky). They played their home games at Dornblaser Field. The defensive coordinator was Pokey Allen (third season). After the season, Carlson was let go; his annual salary was $24,000.
