Étienne Marcel station
Étienne Marcel is a Paris Métro station on Line 4, located in the northeastern part of the 1st arrondissement. It sits under Rue de Turbigo, near Rue Étienne-Marcel.
History and name
The station opened on 21 April 1908 as part of the first section of Line 4 from Châtelet to Porte de Clignancourt. It is named after Rue Étienne-Marcel, which commemorates Étienne Marcel, a 14th‑century leader of Paris merchants.
Nearby places
In the area are the Saint-Eustache church and the Louvre Post Office, which is almost always open (with a short overnight break).
Layout
Étienne Marcel has a standard two-platform layout with tracks in between and an elliptical vaulted ceiling. There is a single exit to 14 Rue de Turbigo.
Modernisation
As part of the Line 4 automation, platform screen doors were installed in 2019.
