Mary Liz Holberg
Mary Liz Holberg (born November 13, 1959) is a Minnesota politician who currently serves on the Dakota County Board of Commissioners. A Republican, she previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing Lakeville in District 58A (later 36A) from 1999 to 2015. She was first elected in 1998 and was re-elected every two years until retiring in 2015. She held leadership roles, including assistant majority leader (2001–02) and chairing the Civil Law Committee (2003–04) and the Transportation Finance Committee (2005–06).
Holberg helped push a constitutional amendment defining marriage as one man and one woman, first with Michele Bachmann in 2003, and she voted for the 2012 amendment in 2011, which voters rejected. In 2014 she did not seek re-election to the House and ran for the Dakota County Board of Commissioners, winning with 62% of the vote. She was re-elected to the board in 2022.
She was born on November 13, 1959. She is married to Thomas, has two children, and lives in Lakeville, Minnesota. She studied at Normandale Community College and St. Cloud State University.
