Zoran Mamić
Zoran Mamić (born 30 September 1971 in Zagreb) is a Croatian former football player and coach. He played mainly as a defensive midfielder or centre-back. He started his career with Dinamo Zagreb (1989–1996), including a loan to GOŠK-Jug. He then spent several years in Germany with Bochum, Bayer Leverkusen, Greuther Fürth, LR Ahlen and Eintracht Trier before returning to Dinamo Zagreb, where he finished playing in 2007. He earned six caps for Croatia and was part of the 1998 World Cup squad that finished third.
As a coach, Mamić was Dinamo Zagreb’s caretaker in 2013 and then the club’s main manager from 2013 to 2016. He later coached abroad: Al Nassr (Saudi Arabia), Al Ain (United Arab Emirates) and Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia). With Al Ain he won the UAE Pro League and the UAE President’s Cup in 2017, the club’s first double. He returned to Dinamo Zagreb as sporting director in 2019 and served as interim manager in 2020 before becoming the full manager again. He resigned in March 2021 after being sentenced to four years in prison for tax evasion.
Mamić comes from a footballing family. His brother Zdravko Mamić was a Dinamo Zagreb official, and both brothers have been found guilty of siphoning funds from the club and evading taxes. Zoran was sentenced, while Zdravko remains at large, with Croatia issuing an international arrest warrant. In May 2021 Zoran was arrested in Bosnia and Herzegovina after fleeing Croatia.
On the personal side, Zoran was born to Josip and Lucija, who are from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He married Ana Šikić in 2014 and divorced in 2016. From his first marriage with Vanja Horvat, he has a daughter, Nina, and a son, Bruno.
