Zombie Hunters: City of the Dead is an independent American horror TV series made in New York City. Created by and starring Patrick Devaney, it’s one of the early zombie-based shows to air on public stations.

The story follows a close group of friends who band together to survive a zombie outbreak. The reanimated dead crave living flesh and attack only the living. The core team starts with Billy Cassidy, Paul Michael Bates, and John Salazar, later joined by Dr. Rebecca Kaufman and nurse Carrie Walker. The series is less about the zombies themselves and more about how the survivors’ choices to stay alive change them. It also weaves in Judeo-Christian themes as the crisis deepens.

Fans can expect classic zombie action—gunfights aimed at zombie heads, graphic effects showing people being eaten, and strong emotional and psychological tension as characters navigate fear and loss.

The show is produced independently in New York by Devarez Films and has aired on many public access and public TV stations across the United States. In the US, it’s distributed by Wild Eye Releasing.

Episode highlights show the Hunters facing a growing threat and difficult moral decisions: the pilot in 2007 introduces the group’s early efforts; early 2008 brings missions like finding a missing girl; later episodes explore conflicts with a militia, searches for a cure, and questions about what caused the outbreak. Storylines also follow government claims of ending the undead problem and then return to danger after terrorist and looter chaos, culminating in the 2012–2014 arc about a large-scale disaster and the Hunters’ fight to survive.
