Yulene Olaizola
Yulene Olaizola, born June 13, 1983 in Mexico City, is a Mexican director, editor and producer. She studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC). Her debut film, Intimidades de Shakespeare y Víctor Hugo (Intimacies of Shakespeare and Victor Hugo), won several awards. She graduated summa cum laude for her documentary thesis, Intimidades de Shakespeare y Víctor Hugo.
She was selected to participate in L’atelier of the Cinefondation at the Cannes Film Festival, a program that helps filmmakers connect with producers and find international funding.
Her film Fogo came from an artistic residency with Fogo Island Arts in Newfoundland, Canada. It was part of the Official Selection at the 10th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and the 44th Directors’ Fortnight, a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival.
Olaizola founded her production company, Malacosa Cine, with Rubén Imaz. She served on the advisory board of Procine in 2018. She will participate in the 71st Cannes Film Festival with her film Selva Trágica, supported by L’atelier of the Cinefondation.
