Youssoupha Mbao is a Senegalese basketball player born in 1990 in Dakar. He is a 7-foot-2-inch center who weighs about 250 pounds and attended Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, California for high school. He started his college career at Marquette University in 2009, playing 10 games in his first season before transferring to Marshall University. Due to NCAA rules, he sat out the 2010–11 season, and at Marshall (2011–2014) he played in 68 games, averaging 0.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, wearing number 34. He also spent time with CB Gran Canaria in Spain’s ACB as an amateur, which kept him eligible to play college basketball in the United States.
