CubaOne Foundation, also known as CubaOne, is a Miami-based nonprofit that sponsors free 7-day trips to Cuba for young Cuban Americans aged 22 to 35. It was founded in 2016 by Daniel Jimenez, Giancarlo Sopo, Cherie Cancio, and Andrew Jimenez. The program is modeled after Birthright Israel, which offers free trips to Israel for young Jews. CubaOne is funded by its four founders. Since it began, the organization has received mostly positive press, with Vivala calling it “a groundbreaking organization” and NBC Miami calling it “a wonderful initiative.” The New York Times also noted that the idea is one Cuban American politicians should consider.
