You're the First Time I've Thought About Leaving is a country song by Reba McEntire from her 1983 album Unlimited. It was written by Dickey Lee and Kerry Chater and produced by Jerry Kennedy. The song lasts 2:52 and was released in January 1983 as the album's third single, with "Up to Heaven" as the B-side, on Mercury Records. It became McEntire's second number-one hit on the country charts, staying at the top for one week and spending 14 weeks on the chart. It followed the 1982 single "Can't Even Get the Blues" and preceded "Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can't Have)" in 1983.
