WTMM-FM
WTMM-FM (104.5 FM, “ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team”) is a sports radio station licensed to Mechanicville, New York, serving the Capital District and Saratoga County. It is owned by Townsquare Media and broadcasts 6,000 watts from a Clifton Park tower shared with WKKF and WMHH. The station airs ESPN Radio programming and Yankees play-by-play, along with other ESPN national sports content.
History in brief:
- 1993: Signed on as WXLE with rock/AC, later evolving to adult album alternative as XL-104.5 and then “104.5 The Zone.”
- 1998–2000s: Sold to AMFM, changing to Magic 104.5, then to WABT “The Beat” with Jammin’ Oldies; later became “The Buzz” with 1980s/1990s hits under Regent/Townsquare.
- 2006: The Buzz moved to 105.7 FM; 104.5 began simulcasting ESPN WTMM on December 18, 2006, and became WTMM-FM.
- 2007: WTMM-FM became the Albany market’s sole sports station after the AM signal realigned.
- 2017–present: Was the flagship for Albany Devils hockey (until 2017); Jets games moved to WQBK-FM in 2019; Buffalo Bills games were added in 2023.
Current programming:
- Weekdays: ESPN Radio schedule with Yankees and ESPN national sports content; morning show previously DiPietro and Rothenberg, replaced by ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike in 2026; midday “Big Board Sports with Rodger Wyland”; 3–4 p.m. “Open Mike” with MJ Johnson; Drive with Dan Bahl ended after his departure.
- Weekends: ESPN Radio network content and Yankees games as scheduled.
