Xucau, also known as Xwytsau (Ossetian: Хуыцау), is the supreme god in Ossetian mythology. He rules all heavenly spirits and gods, called zædtæ and dawdžytæ. Some scholars say his name comes from the Iranian word Khuda, while others think it has Caucasian roots. Xucau is seen as the creator god in Uatsdin, and he is believed to reside in every living being and to reveal himself in people as consciousness and good actions.
