Xinjiang–Tibet railway
Xinjiang–Tibet railway, also called Xinzang railway, is a planned line that would connect Hotan in Xinjiang with Xigazê (Shigatse) in Tibet. It is one of three long‑term rail projects to Tibet in the Mid-to-Long Term Railway Network Plan revised in 2008; the other two are the Sichuan–Tibet railway and the Yunnan–Tibet railway. In February 2023, Tibet’s government said the first section from Shigatse to Pakhuktso should open in 2025. The second section from Pakhuktso to Hotan is planned for 2035. The railway is also planned to reach Nepal and India.
