Plot:
Orphan Badru is taken in by Ustad Samad Khan, a once-popular singer in Bhopal who stopped performing after his audience distracted him. Badru falls for Samad’s daughter Reshma, who also loves him. Another admirer, Naseem, has feelings for Badru, but he does not return them. A photographer from Delhi named Akhtar arrives, and he and Reshma fall in love, leaving Badru heartbroken. Samad hopes Reshma will marry Basharat, the son of Nawab Hyder Ali, and he rejects Akhtar’s marriage proposal. Samad’s outburst lands him in the hospital. To pay for his treatment, Reshma enters a singing competition and wins. When Samad returns home, he tries to arrange Reshma’s marriage, but she has already refused Basharat. Basharat then tries to forcefully marry her.
Reception:
Critics described the film as a formulaic love story, with some doubting its appeal to audiences, while others felt it could still connect with contemporary viewers.
