Joshua Gros (born June 25, 1982) is a former American soccer player who played as a midfielder. He was born in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and played college soccer at Rutgers University from 2000 to 2003, finishing his senior year with 16 goals and earning Big East Offensive Player of the Year. Drafted 34th overall by D.C. United in 2004, he spent four seasons with the club, making 110 league appearances and scoring 9 goals. Gros was an MLS All-Star in 2006 and played in the All-Star game against Chelsea. He earned one cap for the United States in 2007. After the 2007 season, he retired due to head injuries. Post-playing, he worked as a civil engineer on projects for the U.S. Navy and Air Force. In 2009 he was an assistant coach for the Northern Virginia Royals and later that year became the Philadelphia Union’s team coordinator under head coach Piotr Nowak, who had coached him at D.C. United. His nickname with D.C. United was “The Sarge.”
