Wind is a 2019 American animated short film from Pixar's SparkShorts, directed and written by Edwin Chang. It runs eight minutes and was released on Disney+ on December 13, 2019. The story follows Ellis and his grandmother, who live in a mysterious sinkhole filled with floating rocks and discarded machines. They build a small home and grow potatoes, the only food they can raise. Each day, Ellis attaches a cord to himself to float out and collect items they can use.

The pair dream of escaping the hole. They work on a rocket to reach the light above, and Ellis finds an abandoned plane that could carry only one person. Grandma suggests he pilot it and pull her up with the cord, so he agrees. He launches, dodges debris, and reaches the surface, landing in a lush field. He begins to pull up the cord, hoping to rescue her, but it reveals a box of potatoes at the end. He hugs the box in tearful gratitude for her sacrifice.

The film, inspired by Edwin Chang’s family history—his grandmother and father fled Korea during the Korean War before moving to the United States—explores themes of immigration and family. The music is by Andrew Jimenez, and the score was released on February 28, 2020. Wind received positive reviews, with critics calling it tearjerking and magical.
