Hilarios Karl-Heinz Ungerer
Hilarios Karl-Heinz Ungerer (born 1941 in Nuremberg) is a bishop of the Free Catholic Church in Munich, a small independent Catholic group. He helped ordain Bishop Rómulo Antonio Braschi in 1998 with Bishop Roberto Garrido Padin. Braschi then ordained a group of women known as the Danube Seven in 2002. In 1967 Ungerer was ordained as a priest in Germany’s independent Catholic movement and later became a bishop. He opened a storefront church in Munich. In 1976 he joined the German branch of the Mariavite Church. He was consecrated as a bishop by Mariavite Bishop Norbert Maas on 6 October 1976, but left that church on 8 August 1978. Since then he has led the Free Catholic Church in Germany, described as the German branch of the Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church.
