L'Illustré
L'Illustré is a weekly French-language consumer magazine published in Lausanne, Switzerland. It began on 10 September 1921, making it one of the country’s oldest magazines. It started in Romandy and in Zofingen, and early on published French translations of articles from the Swiss German magazine SIZ before developing its own style for French readers. It is published by Ringier Médias Suisse, part of Ringier AG.
Over the years it has focused on celebrities and family ideas. In the 1970s it added a radio and TV programs section, boosting its popularity. In 2010 and 2021 the magazine marked its 90th and 100th anniversaries with special editions, and in 2021 held a three-week exhibition. In April 2023 the weekly TV magazine TV8 was merged into L'Illustré. The editor-in-chief from 2020 to January 2023 was Stéphane Benoit-Godet; he was succeeded by Laurence Desbordes.
Circulation figures have varied: about 108,798 copies sold in 2004–2005, around 106,144 in 2005–2006, 104,279 in 2006–2007, 99,547 in 2007–2008, and 76,697 copies in 2014. Readership was about 338,000 in late 2014.
In 2014 Ringier and Axel Springer formed a joint venture that included L'Illustré; this partnership ended in late 2020, with Ringier taking over Axel Springer’s stake. L'Illustré remains a weekly publication based in Lausanne.
