War Machine in other media
War Machine is the armored identity of James Rhodes, a Marvel Comics character who first appeared in Iron Man #118 (1979). Rhodes has shown up in comics as both a non-costumed ally and as War Machine. Most of his appearances are in animation, but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe the role has been played first by Terrence Howard and later by Don Cheadle after a contract dispute.
In other media, War Machine appears across films and TV, including animated films like The Invincible Iron Man (2007) and Iron Man: Rise of Technovore (2013); animated series such as Iron Man (1994), Iron Man: Armored Adventures (2009), The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (2010), and Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers (2014); live-action MCU films Iron Man 2 (2010), Iron Man 3 (2013), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019); and the TV series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021).
