The Wan Brothers were Chinese animators from Nanjing who helped start Chinese animation. They created Asia’s first feature-length animated film, Princess Iron Fan, in 1941, and they also made Havoc in Heaven. They worked during a difficult time for the industry, living through the Second Sino-Japanese War, World War II, and the Cultural Revolution. Their father was in the silk trade and their mother was a seamstress.
