Wahlrod
Wahlrod is a small municipality in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is part of the Westerwaldkreis district and belongs to the collective municipality of Hachenburg. The community lies in the northern Westerwald region and borders the Altenkirchen district. Wahlrod covers about 6 square kilometers and sits around 290 meters above sea level. As of December 31, 2023, about 883 people lived there. The mayor is Sandra Dörner (term 2019–2024).
The B8 road passes through Wahlrod, linking Limburg an der Lahn and Siegburg. The nearest Autobahn interchanges are Dierdorf and Neuwied on the A3, about 25 kilometers away. Wahlrod once had a station on the Selters-Hachenburg narrow-gauge railway, but the line is closed and most tracks have been removed. The closest InterCityExpress stop is Montabaur on the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed line.
