WWRZ
WWRZ (98.3 FM) is a Fort Meade, Florida radio station serving the Lakeland-Winter Haven area. It currently broadcasts a Contemporary Christian format as part of The JOY FM network and is owned by Radio Training Network.
History in brief:
- The station began in 1990 as WSCF and later used several different call signs.
- Up to January 2, 2006, it was known as 98.3 The Rose with an Adult Contemporary format and the slogan “Playin’ it All,” playing hits from the 1970s to today.
- In January 2025, the station rebranded as MAX at 98.3 and adopted an adult hits format; the long-running morning show “Big MAX Morning Show” with Eric Michaels and Mike Lee ended on January 6, 2025.
- On January 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM, it formally became MAX at 98.3 while keeping the same slogan.
Ownership change:
- On July 9, 2025, Hall Communications announced the sale of WWRZ to Radio Training Network to focus on Christian broadcasting (The JOY FM).
- The sale closed on October 1, 2025, and The JOY FM programming took over.
