Voglje, Šenčur
Voglje is a small village in the Municipality of Šenčur in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It sits at about 371 meters above sea level and had a population of 639 in 2002.
Name and origin: Voglje was first mentioned in 1247 as in villa Winkeler, and later as Winchleren and Winklern. The Slovene name comes from a root meaning “corner” or “upper part of a mountain range,” referring to the place where the inhabitants lived.
Church: The local church is dedicated to Saint Simon and Saint Jude. It was built in 1750 on the site of an earlier church.
Location: Voglje is located in northern Slovenia, near Šenčur, at roughly 46.216°N latitude and 14.435°E longitude.
