Vladimir Kuchmiy
Vladimir Mikhailovich Kuchmiy (May 31, 1948 – March 21, 2009) was a Russian newspaper editor. He founded Sport Express, Russia’s first professional sports daily, and served as its chief editor from 1991 until his death in 2009. He started the paper in August 1991 with reporters from Sovetsky Sport and guided its editorial direction without writing for it. Under his leadership, Sport Express grew to a circulation of about 700,000. He died on March 21, 2009, at age 60.
