Very Old Pretenders
Very Old Pretenders is a British comedy on BBC Radio 4. It is a mockumentary with episodes about 28 minutes long. The show aired from 15 September to 6 October 2011 and has one series of four episodes. The story follows a fictional anthropologist who discovers two Jacobite soldiers who have been kept alive in a cave since 1745 and brings them into modern life.
The programme was created and written by Carl Gorham and produced by Gordon Kennedy for Absolutely Productions. It stars David Haig, Rebecca Front, Jack Docherty, Gordon Kennedy, Moray Hunter, Morwenna Banks, Carl Gorham, Lucy Barter, Sinead Merron and Nicholas Burns.
Initial reviews were positive. Radio Times called it “terrific,” and The Telegraph said it was very funny for people who enjoy a mix of Scots humor and surreal elements.
