Venugopalaswamy Temple, Karvetinagaram
Venugopalaswamy Temple is a Hindu Vaishnavite temple in Karvetinagaram, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The main deity is Venugopala Krishna, considered the ninth avatar of Vishnu, with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama by his side. The temple is built in the Dravidian style and is about 58 km from Tirupati and 12 km from Puttur. It was built by King Venkataperumal of the Venkataraja dynasty and is now administered by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
In the sanctum, Venugopala Swamy sits with Rukmini and Satyabhama. The statues were brought from Narayanavanam Temple. There are subshrines for Rama with Sita and Lakshmana, Anjaneya, Parthasarathy, Renuka Parameshwari, and Avanakshamma. The temple tank is called Skanda Pushkarini. Daily rituals follow the Vaikanasa Agama. The temple celebrates Krishna Janmashtami, Utsavam, Brahmotsavams, Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Ugadi, and Sankranti. An early 18th-century Telugu poet named Sarangapani wrote many Padam-style songs in praise of Venugopala Swamy here, and about 200 of those songs survive today.
