In a village by the Godavari river, two influential brothers-in-law, Parasuramaiah and Bullabbai, lead rival factions. Gopala Krishna, a beloved local boatman, wants to end their feud. Satyavati, Parasuramaiah’s daughter, secretly loves Gopala Krishna. Bullabbai brings Radha from the city and keeps her isolated in a mansion; Gopala Krishna befriends her and they fall in love. Gopala Krishna’s mother Ramulamma wishes for him to marry Satyavati, but Parasuramaiah humiliates Ramulamma, who then commits suicide. Enraged, Gopala Krishna is restrained from attacking Parasuramaiah by his wife. Parasuramaiah and Bullabbai join forces for vengeance and stab Gopala Krishna, after which Radha helps him to the hospital. Gopala Krishna learns Radha’s troubled past: Bullabbai exploited her ill mother and intended to keep Radha as his mistress. Radha wants to marry Gopala Krishna to escape Bullabbai, and he vows to protect her by marrying her. Meanwhile, Parasuramaiah’s wife changes his mind, leading him to accept Satyavati’s love for Gopala Krishna. Bullabbai attacks them again, but the villagers defeat him and he dies. The film ends with the wedding of Gopala Krishna and Radha, while Satyavati sacrifices her own love.
