Varun Aaron
Varun Aaron (Varun Raymond Aaron), born 29 October 1989 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, is a former Indian cricketer. A tall right-arm fast bowler, he trained at the MRF Pace Foundation and came through Jharkhand’s teams. He made his ODI debut for India on 23 October 2011 against England and his Test debut on 22 November 2011 against the West Indies. He played 9 Tests and 9 ODIs for India, taking 18 and 11 wickets. He was known for his pace, once delivering 153.4 km/h in domestic cricket.
In domestic cricket, Aaron played for Jharkhand and had IPL stints with Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab, and Rajasthan Royals. He also played in England for Durham and Leicestershire, and in 2022 joined the Gujarat Titans for the IPL. Aaron announced his retirement from first-class cricket in February 2024, saying his body could no longer sustain fast bowling in longer formats. After retirement, he worked as a fast-bowling coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
