Plot
Sathyamoorthy is a cruel village chief who rules the area with fear and unfair judgments. The villagers nickname him Sandiyar, meaning brute, and many wish he would die. His mother Annapoorni hopes he will become a better man. Sandiyar befriends a crook named Maruthu who once saved his life.
Meena arrives in the village and claims they were secretly married, but Sandiyar denies this in the village court. Meena wants to marry him openly, and with her mother’s support she comes to live with Sandiyar. They marry. After the wedding, Meena reveals why she lied: earlier Sandiyar had given an unfair judgment that led to her sister’s and mother’s suicides. She also learns about Sandiyar’s own tragedy—his father was killed by a family friend, Mookaiah, for land, while the villagers did nothing. This fuels Sandiyar’s harsh rule, but Meena begins to change him.
Over time, Sandiyar starts to soften under Meena’s influence and tries to become a responsible village president. Maruthu happens to be Mookaiah’s son and tries to take Sandiyar’s wealth. The rest of the story follows what happens next.
Music for the film was composed by Deva. The release went smoothly without controversy. Critics noted the director’s ability to blend drama with moments of humor and keep a steady pace.
