Vaclav Zizler
Vaclav Zizler, born March 8, 1943, is a Czech mathematician who specializes in Banach space theory and nonlinear spaces. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and he previously led research at the Mathematical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. In 2001, the Czech Ministry of Education named his book Functional Analysis and Infinite Dimensional Geometry the university textbook of the year. In 2008, he received the Laureate Medal from the Czech Mathematical Society for his lifelong work in mathematical analysis and his contributions to Czech mathematics.
