V.League 2, officially known as the National First Division Football League and sponsored as Gold Star V.League 2, is the second tier of Vietnamese football, sitting below V.League 1. It features 14 clubs and is broadcast on FPT Play.

Season format and promotion
- The season runs mainly from September/October to June/July, with each team playing 26 matches (home and away against every other team).
- Teams earn 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss.
- The league table is decided by points, then goal difference, goals scored, and head-to-head records.
- The top two teams are promoted to V.League 1, while the bottom two are relegated to the Second Division.

Current and recent seasons
- The current champions are Phu Dong Ninh Binh, who won the 2024–25 season.
- From the 2025–26 season, the league will again consist of 14 teams.

History and format changes
- The league began in 2000 and has had several name changes. It was previously called the Second Division and has evolved through different formats over the years.
- From 2000 to 2019, seasons used a double round-robin format. The 2020 season used a split format, and the 2021 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Since the 2023–24 season, V.League 2 operates as a double round-robin across two years, from the autumn of one year to the summer of the next.

Notable clubs
- Clubs with multiple titles include Binh Dinh, Dong Thap, Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quang Nam, each with two championships.
