Upsilon1 Cancri
Upsilon1 Cancri is a solitary yellow-white star in the constellation Cancer. It is barely visible to the naked eye, shining at about magnitude 5.7, and lies roughly 240 light-years away. The star is moving away from us at about 19 km/s.
This is an F-type giant star (F0 IIIn), with rapid rotation that broadens its spectral lines. Its projected rotational velocity is about 109 km/s. Upsilon1 Cancri is a small variable star, changing by around 0.05 magnitudes, though the exact type of variability is unknown.
It is about 570 million years old and has roughly 1.5 times the Sun’s mass, 3.2 times the Sun’s radius, and 25 times the Sun’s luminosity. Its surface temperature is around 7,240 K.
