Tom Stuifbergen
Tom Stuifbergen, born September 26, 1988 in Breda, Netherlands, is a Dutch former professional baseball pitcher. He bats and throws right-handed and is 6'4" tall, 240 pounds. His pitches include a fastball in the high 80s to low 90s, a changeup, and a curveball.
He played for the Amsterdam Pirates before signing with the Minnesota Twins as an undrafted free agent on August 16, 2006. In 2007 he pitched in the Gulf Coast League for the Twins, going 0-0 with a 2.19 ERA in 12.1 innings and 9 strikeouts. An injury kept him from pitching in 2008.
Stuifbergen made his Netherlands national team debut on July 11, 2006 against Italy in the European Baseball Championship, earning the win with six shutout innings. He also played in Haarlem Baseball Week and the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, where the Netherlands finished runner-up to Cuba.
In the 2009 World Baseball Classic he started the Netherlands’ game against the Dominican Republic, throwing four innings with three strikeouts and no runs allowed, helping the Dutch win. He represented the Netherlands again in the 2019 European Baseball Championship, the Africa/Europe 2020 Olympic Qualification tournament in Italy, and the 2019 WBSC Premier12.
