Tjiu Mau-ying
Tjiu Mau-ying (邱茂英), born in 1936 in Takao Prefecture, Taiwan, is a Taiwanese agricultural economist. He earned a bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University and a PhD in agricultural economics from the University of Göttingen in Germany in 1968. His doctoral dissertation was about Taiwan’s agricultural reform and its impact on economic development. He led the Taiwan Provincial Government’s Department of Agriculture and Forestry and later became vice chairman of the Council of Agriculture. He served as Minister of the Council of Agriculture from June 10, 1996, to May 9, 1997, succeeding Paul Sun and later being succeeded by Peng Tso-kwei.
