Thornapple Township is a civil township in Barry County, Michigan. As of the 2020 census, it has 9,331 residents, making it the most populous township in the county. It sits in the northwest corner of Barry County and includes the village of Middleville. Michigan state highway M-37 runs through the center of the township, linking Hastings (11 miles to the southeast) and downtown Grand Rapids (about 22 miles to the north). The Thornapple River flows north through the middle of the township. The total area is about 35.9 square miles, with 35.3 square miles of land and 0.66 square miles of water. Population density is about 264 people per square mile. The township is in the Eastern Time Zone.
