The World Outside is the second album by Scottish duo The MacDonald Brothers. It was recorded in Edinburgh and released on 15 October 2007 through Syco Music, Sony Music Entertainment and The Music Kitchen, with Stuart Wood as producer. The album mostly features cover songs, including Scottish tracks like Saturday Night by Bay City Rollers, but it also contains original material such as Runaway (Do You Love Me).

Lead single Runaway (Do You Love Me) was written by Elton John, who offered the song to the duo after deciding not to release it himself.

In Scotland, The World Outside debuted at number two on the Scottish Albums Chart, then dropped to numbers 14, 35, 71 and 97 in subsequent weeks, spending five weeks in the Top 100. In the UK, it peaked at number 41 on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 5,126 copies.

This was their second studio album, following the April 2007 self-titled debut. Like the first album, it features many covers, but unlike the debut it includes original material as well. HMV described it as a crowd-pleasing pop collection with original tracks and covers, and noted a bonus DVD with two extra tracks and a behind-the-scenes documentary. Track highlights include Somethin’ About You, Saturday Night and I Want You To Want Me.
