The Ship of Condemned Women
The Ship of Condemned Women (La nave delle donne maledette) is a 1953 Italian historical adventure-melodrama directed by Raffaello Matarazzo. It stars Kerima, May Britt and Ettore Manni. Loosely based on Léon Gozlan’s Histoire de 130 femmes, the story follows a young woman who is wrongly convicted of murder and sent to a penal colony. She boards a ship with about 100 other female prisoners. The film was shot in Gevacolor, with sets by Piero Filippone. It runs 101 minutes and is in Italian. It was produced by Alfredo De Laurentiis and Nello Meniconi for Excelsa Film and distributed by Minerva Film. Music by Nino Rota; cinematography by Aldo Tonti; editing by Leo Catozzo. Release date: 15 November 1953.
