The Search Is Over is the third studio album by American gospel singer Tramaine Hawkins, released in 1986 by A&M Records. It was recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California and Media Sound in Copenhagen, Denmark, and runs 43 minutes and 47 seconds. The gospel/R&B album was produced by Loris Holland, Robert Wright, and Vassal Benford. It peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Spiritual LPs chart and No. 33 on the Top Black Albums chart. AllMusic gave it 4.5 stars, with reviewer Ron Wynn noting that it sounded close to secular urban contemporary music while Hawkins remained connected to the church. The album earned Hawkins a Grammy nomination for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Female. It follows Determined (1983) and precedes Freedom (1987) in her discography.
