The Rumba Madre (TRM) is an American world and Latinx alternative band formed in 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. They mix Latin sounds with flamenco, urban music, fusion, punk, reggaetón, and trap to create a catchy, vibrant style. The core members are David Vila Diéguez (Spain), Rubén Darío Gómez (Colombia), and Benjamín Alejandro Delgado (The Bronx/NY/Puerto Rico). The name plays on a common Spanish expression, reflecting the band’s festive spirit.

In 2017, Vila Diéguez and Gómez decided to start their own project. They worked with producer Ivan Gutiérrez Carrasquillo to record an album that could reach U.S. music contacts. The result was their debut album Prisiones y Fugas, released in 2020. The first single, “La Rumba del Coco,” came out on May 8, 2020, with its video released the same day. During 2020 they also shared live “Quarantine Sessions” from their homes.

TRM also released a Spanish cover of The Beatles’ “Help” for KPFK 90.7 FM’s Travel Tips for Aztlan. In 2021 they released the single “Tu Maldita Vida” featuring Enrique Campos, and on September 3, 2021 they released a remix of “La Rumba del Coco” with Asdru Sierra of Ozomatli. In 2022 they issued “Vivir Sin Ti” with Nancy Sánchez.

In 2025 they released “Abuela,” a song about generational trauma from the Spanish Civil War, which Billboard highlighted as a radar pick for June. That month they also released “¡Oh, San Juan! (Live from el Choliseo)” about gentrification in Puerto Rico.
