The Queer Explorer
The Queer Explorer, French: Les voyages de Nicky, is a French documentary series on France 5. It debuted on August 29, 2023. Hosted by Nicky Doll, the show follows her as she travels the world to meet queer communities and explore gender expression and drag.
The first season has four episodes, each about 51–52 minutes long. They explore queer culture, LGBT rights and activism, and the art of drag in India, Greece, Mexico, and Japan.
CAN'T STOP media acquired global distribution rights on August 30, 2023. The series had its international premiere at the Chelsea Film Festival in New York City on October 20, 2024.
In an Elle interview, Nicky Doll said Anthony Bourdain and her experiences living in France, Saint Martin, and Morocco inspired the show.
France 5 selected The Queer Explorer as one of its two summer documentaries in 2023 from 232 candidates.
