The Mooring (2012 film)
The Mooring is a 2012 American thriller directed by Glenn Withrow. It stars Hallie Todd, Thomas Wilson Brown, and ten young actors from across the United States. The film follows a group of teenage girls at a technology-addiction camp who encounter a dangerous couple in the woods.
Plot
Ten years after a girl is abducted by a man in the woods, counselor Nancy runs a tech-detox retreat for girls on a houseboat. The campers include Margot, Remi, Natalie, Justine, Madison, Holly, Claire, Ashley, and others. Nancy and her aide Dawn try to help the girls reconnect without phones or screens.
When the boat’s engine fails, Nancy moors it to shore for the night. A man, Richard, and his partner Mickey watch the girls from a nearby boat. The couple threatens the group and soon capture Nancy, tying her to a boat and pulling her into the water.
The girls flee into the forest as the couple hunts them. Some girls are killed during the pursuit. Dawn, who has become too traumatized to move, is killed when Richard finds her. The remaining girls attempt dangerous escapes, including rappelling down a cliff to reach safety.
In the end, Mickey reveals a personal connection to the abduction shown at the film’s opening. She and Richard are confronted again, and Mickey kills Richard. She escapes in her boat, leaving Margot alive with the others. The movie closes with Mickey driving away after surviving the nightmare.
