The Master: An Adventure Story
The Master: An Adventure Story is a 1957 science fiction novel by English writer T. H. White. The story follows two children, Judy and Nicky, and their dog Jokey, who are stranded on Rockall, a tiny, lonely rocky island in the North Atlantic. They discover the island is hollow and home to a mysterious Master who plans to take over the world.
The book asks big questions about killing, war, peace, and how to respond to evil. Like White’s better-known work The Once and Future King, it explores moral choices and how people should act when faced with danger.
In 1966, Southern Television produced a six-part TV version of the story, with Adrienne Posta and Paul Guess starring, and Olaf Pooley playing the Master.
