The Lost Painting
The Lost Painting: The Quest for a Caravaggio Masterpiece is a non-fiction book by Jonathan Harr, published in 2005. It tells how a Caravaggio painting was rediscovered in the 1990s and how experts compared two versions to determine which is the original The Taking of Christ (circa 1602).
The book expands on a December 1994 article in the New York Times Magazine and also features the life of Luciano Floridi, a philosopher from Oxford. In 2006, Variety reported that Miramax might adapt the book into a film.
