The Land of Long Shadows
The Land of Long Shadows is a 1917 American silent drama film directed by W. S. Van Dyke in his first directing job. It stars Jack Gardner, Ruth King, and Carl Stockdale. The movie was produced by Essanay Studios and released by K-E-S-E Service. It runs about 50 minutes and uses English intertitles.
The film helped launch Van Dyke's career, and he later became a well-known director at MGM. Before it could be shown in Kansas, the Kansas Board of Review required removing five scenes that showed men drinking. It was released on June 18, 1917.
