The Lambkin and the Little Fish
The Lambkin and the Little Fish is a German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm. A brother and sister are treated badly by their stepmother. While they are by a pool, she turns the boy into a fish and the girl into a lamb. When guests arrive, she orders the lamb to be served. The lamb and the fish tell each other about their sad fates. The cook serves another animal, and a kind peasant woman who had once cared for the girl as a nurse takes in the lamb. She brings the lamb to a wise woman, who blesses them and changes them back into a boy and a girl. The wise woman also gives them a small hut in the woods, where they live happily.
